Persepolis, Iran

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979, the ruins at Persepolis, near Shiraz in Iran date from around the 5th century BC. The gallery also includes photos of the tomb of Darius the Great, a few kilometres from the Persepolis site.
